The Feast: Worldwide Dinner Party

As I stepped down the stairs toward her back patio I saw the table spread out with fresh bocconcini salad, pineapple straight off the patio grill and loaves of uncut artisan bread. I was invited to a test dinner which will be replicated in hundreds of different cities on one day—October 5th.

The set up for the dinner was more structured than most. There was a reason. It was dinner for ten, with my friend named Jerri. Jerri runs an organization and conference called the FEAST which holds annual events. The idea for this year’s event is to go beyond a conference and host hundreds of dinners in small homes, backyards and patios around the world. Dinners that are about more than people just eating but about people actively doing something for good. Taking on a challenge.

As we ate questions were asked and the conversation started.

What do you want to change? What can we do together? The answers spanned from clarifying subway signs to theories on international development. The questions were broad but the tone and taste was just right.

On October 5th you can join in the worldwide dinner party and choose a challenge you want to tackle. Join hundreds of others by finding a dinner party already going on in your city or hosting your own. It’s a simple way to get together, eat good food and make a difference.

Thanks for posting this. I love this concept so much, I signed up to host a dinner in ATL this Oct 5. I have too many creative friends and I decided to create the challenge "How can we use our individual creative talents to meet the felt need of someone this holiday season?" It will be a goal to use whatever hobbies we have collectively or separately to bring a smile to someone's face. I am going to promote the option of blessing someone we have never meet.
