The Agrarian Kitchen
"An agrarian mind begins with the love of fields and ramifies in good farming, good cooking & good eating”
-Wendell Berry
Set on five acres in the beautiful Tasmanian countryside The Agrarian Kitchen functions as a sustainable farm based cooking school. In 2007 owners Rodney Dunn and his wife Séverine relocated from Sydney to convert an old 19th century schoolhouse into the countries first hands on, cooking school. The Agrarian Kitchen incorporates a vegetable garden, orchard, berry patch, and herb garden, as well as a number of rare breed animals.
This special and unique entity is committed to reconnecting the kitchen with the land. The mission is to create a place where people are reminded of the simple pleasures of gathering and cooking their food as close to the source as possible.
The Agrarian Kitchen hosts a number of classes each year with different focus’s including foraging, food production, and artisanal subjects such as cheese, bread and pasta making.
