Snow Cooking

We have never eaten outside in December, that we can remember.  But this weekend we found the courage and were in the mood for the challenge.  It was minus eight degrees Celsius and snowy.  We found a spot in the park by the frozen river.  We cooked salmon in a cast iron pan over the fire, and sweet potatoes with onions and fennel in tin foil.  We kept our mitts on mostly, and pushed our feet toward the fire for extra warmth.  We roasted chestnuts.  The light left early, just as we filled our plates.  We ate in the dark.

Love this. So much. Only us Manitobans would do something like this. ;)

Sounds like fun! Is this in Manitoba? I'm jealous that you have snow. In Montreal, we have but a light dusting. It just isn't the same without it.
