Saturday Breakfast

It's easy for us to be late and lazy on winter weekend mornings. Unlike the warm season, it is a time for contemplation and privacy. We like doing every single gesture slowly, and with care. We wake up, set the table, and share a meal we prepare together. Pancakes and a Moka pot of coffee have become part of a ritual that we created only for ourselves and represents us as an Italian-American couple. I cook pancakes while he sets the Moka pot — this is the agreement. We gather at the table, share a meal and forget where and when we are, but we are reminded once again of who we are.

That's the best way to make espresso! My Italian Grama gave me two different sizes of those pots. She has so many of them tucked away.

Even if in Italian, I've mentioned calicanthus in my blog too, by words and not by pictures. I think that it's the real first sign of spring.
I hope this spring will be calm, quiet and rich of emotions.

I had the same moka when I lived in Torino. I miss the italian coffee, the taste of it is so good (not only the espresso, but the taste of the coffee itself). I think your is a perfect way of treasuring time spent together.

Breakfast on winter mornings are my favorite.
Everything seems more special when it's chilly out.
