Olive Oil Tasting

The ultimate haven from supermarket chains, Le Marché St. George, recently hosted an olive oil tasting in conjunction with the Creaza family (behind the incredible Messors company) in the backyard of their Vancouver outpost. The olive oil is considered to be the shop’s best-kept secret, bottled from their expansive olive groves in the southern heel of Italy.

Amidst live tunes, visitors mingled, sampled appetizers, sipped wine, and eventually sat for an authentic Italian meal shared among friends. Pasta dishes topped with fresh basil, salads of fennel, fruit and roasted bell peppers, olive oil and bread left everyone with a smile that can only be delivered by a wonderful meal.

How wonderful! I just finished reading the book, Extra Virginity: The Sublime and Scandalous World of Olive Oil, and it was fascinating to learn about oils from all over the world and understanding flavor profiles. It's so important to take some time to taste olive oil and appreciate the hard work and passion of small producers.
